The Marian McNamara Scholarship
Each year, in memory of Marian McNamara, the CCA-North grants one high school student who plans to continue studying a classical language (Latin and/or Greek) at the college level a scholarship of one thousand dollars.
The scholarship was established in 2004 by colleagues, friends and former students of Marian McNamara (1924-2003) and named after her. Marian taught Latin at both Gunn and Palo Alto High Schools for over thirty years. She was an active member of many national and local classical associations, serving on the CCA-North board for many years in a variety of offices. This scholarship is meant to encourage our top high school graduates to continue their study of classical languages in college and to consider a career in the teaching of classics.
This scholarship has a rolling deadline.
